[The blue hair is very real - though it's much more of a sky blue than anything else, long and up in twintails as if there wasn't any other style worth bothering with. Thida has been quiet, sitting on a bench while looking through her 'gear, her Malamar standing behind the bench and peering over her shoulder. Both look up at the sound of Thida's name, and she stows her 'gear away and hops off the bench.
She's...a lot shorter than Annie might have expected for a teenager. Hands stuffed in pockets, she hurries over, trailed by her large squid Pokemon, and looks at Annie with wide eyes.]
[ Annie isn't tall enough to have much comment on it, though Thida is... short. For once, she can even feel like she isn't, which is bizarre enough for a few seconds before she shakes it off. ]
Yes, I'm Annie.
[ She holds out her hand for shaking, mostly on reflex. Lute stands and shakes himself off, coming forward to make a low greeting to Thida's pokemon companion. Arlert calls out too, perpetually hopeful. She's "off" duty for now, and that means looking for food and attention. ]
[It's one of the few carry-overs she has from being an Inkling. If she were properly proportioned, it's likely she'd be even smaller, considering how huge old human stuff was.
Thida shakes Annie's hand. Her grip is surprisingly firm.]
[ It's a grounding firmness, one Annie was meeting naturally herself. She feels a little more confident about their meeting after that, ridiculous as it is. ]
Likewise. I haven't spent much time in the large department store here... do they mind pokemon coming in out of balls with us?
Nope, don't mind it. [She's worked for them delivering orders on and off, long enough to know what is and isn't okay to do in the department store.] Just gotta behave. Like little kids, sorta.
[ Like civilian kids, she presumes, who haven't been starving. The ones who can afford to keep their hands to themselves and also not act up when visiting larger stores. Neither Lute nor Arlert should be an issue, and so she nods. ]
Great. Arlert, are you fine staying with our things outside? I'll ask Lute otherwise.
[ Her hoothoot puffs up and looks utterly pleased at being asked, coo-hooting and bobbing her body in a full nod. ]
Seems like we're set, if there's not anything else you need to take care of first.
[Thida stuffs her hands in her pockets and motions with her head in the direction of the department store. Maika sort of hovers that way herself.] Usually food's on th'lower level? The fresh stuff. 'S what we prob'ly need.
[ Annie makes a noise of acknowledgement, ticking off a few ingredients on her fingers as she turns and starts walking. ]
Honey, yeast, fresh fruit... that's all the food supplies. I have bottles for later, but to start with you can apparently use one of those big, nineteen litre sealable buckets for the start.
Sounds right, that's where all the building supplies are, isn't it?
[ The doors still give her a little "woah" moment internally, though Annie doesn't let it show anymore. She takes up one of the handbaskets for shopping when they're in the grocery area, reading the labels for aisle to make a guess on which one had the honey here. ]
Mhm. They put that stuff next door, 'n still call it th'department store, but it's in a different building.
[It's more of an adjoining warehouse, since it would be a hassle to make people transport large packages of lumber or stone up and down stairs or elevators.]
[ She nods, though she hasn't spent time between the two buildings, really. Construction supplies have not been on her shortlist of necessary items before now. ]
Not exactly the most straightforward name, really. The Department Stores might at least make more sense...
[ She pauses at the aisle for baking, turning down it because she saw the word sugar. Clearly honey should be here too? ]
[ She sounds slightly scandalised by this. Who even bothers making terrible sugar? Why would anyone? Dieting fads exist everywhere, but she doesn't watch television here, and she doesn't have a concept of cutting sugars out of a diet when she's never had the opportunity to have too many in her diet in the first place.
Meaning she gives an outright distrustful look of these coloured packages, turning her head away and walking on. Fake sugar? No, never that. ]
[ She still looks somewhat confused--who would torture themselves with fake surgar?--but diabetes isn't an issue she knows about, and diets are again different, so...
Huh. One more strange thing about this place amoung many. ]
At least that's dependable.
[ She says, as they make it past the sugars to the jars and containers of honey. There's... way more than Annie expects. Honey listed as being optimal for attracting pokemon, honey from specific flowers, from specific regions, honey in small ursa shaped containers, honey in cutie-fly decorated containers, honey in sticks, honey in large containers. ]
I had no idea honey came in so many flavours.
[ It would be paralysing if she was trying to pick out something to use for tea, but she redirects her attention to the larger containers, knowing how much honey she's going to need. It makes it much less overwhelming to crouch down and check costs on the biggest containers they have. ]
[At least it's likely that the larger the bottle of honey, the less variety there is - flavored ones are likely specialty, and Thida usually ignores that sort of thing.
She crouches down to look at the lower shelves, comparing the amounts to the prices with the eye of someone who does so on the regular.]
...Think...this one's cheapest? Most for least. [It's a goddamn 72oz jug of honey.]
[ she moves down the aisle, toward where it turns out the baking supplies are, as Thida said. It takes searching the shelves to find any yeast, and when she finds the individual packets, time to read labels. ]
[ Annie blinks, looking at Thida. She's right, there really is, but Annie's never thought about it that way before. ]
There is, yes. Hopefully the kind of science I won't suck at.
[ To put it succinctly. She picks out what looks like the most likely yeast for what she's planning on doing, then lifts her head to stare in the general direction of the fresh fruits. ]
I keep wondering. Have you seen anyone growing the berries we eat here?
[ A prelude to moving back up the aisle and making the walk toward where the produce and fruits will eventually be found. ]
[School science had a lot of guidelines and rules and directions, while this was a lot more...actual experimentation. They quite literally are doing this with little idea of how they might succeed.]
People berries? No...jus' find Pokemon berries outside. 'N they make juice from th'apricorn things...maybe there's greenhouses somewhere.

Yeah. We'll have enough left over for a second batch, if we want. Honey doesn't spoil, so it can sit around if there's space for it. Is there?
[ She asks Thida, quirking up her eyebrows. ]
